What Makes Yorktown Outstanding

Students benefit from a variety of programs such as Gifted and Talented classes, Project Mentor, Naviance, and I Know I Can. Students can develop special interests through instrumental and vocal music ensembles, band concerts, sports, technology projects, and art exhibits. Yorktown's student of the month, honor roll awards, attendance incentive programs, and student- based advisory teams reward good behavior and academic achievement on an ongoing and consistent basis. Other programs include Service Above Self, Chess Club, and Power of the Pen. Yorktown provides a school-wide environment of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), offering opportunities such as Pride Incentive Cards, Student of the Month, honor roll, student recognition programs, attendance incentives, good behavior, and academic achievement, which are recognized and rewarded. Other rewards include school dances, Poetry Slam assemblies, student faculty volleyball and basketball games, Kings Island, Instrumental Music Competition, and school choir and band performances. Yorktown students have Patriot P.R.I.D.E. This means they're prepared, restorative, have integrity, are disciplined, and engaged.
